“Armed with Love” 2026 Album
Recorded in Paris, “Armed With” Love brings together three singular artistic voices: Armenian-American pianist and composer Lucy Khanyan, amazing French double bassist and composer Gabriel Pierre, and fantastic Brazilian drummer, percussionist, and composer Isaias Alves — each a master musician whose cultural roots, creative vision, and musical depth shape the album’s distinctive sound. Built around original avant-garde folk-jazz compositions developed over many years, the album creates a rich musical dialogue where diverse traditions, improvisational freedom, and contemporary expression meet in a deeply personal yet universal language. Working alongside Gabriel Pierre and Isaias Alves — both remarkable composers and visionary musical minds — has been an inspiring artistic journey, expanding the music through their unique perspectives, sensitivity, and mastery of sound. Armed With Love is a celebration of creative exchange, cultural resonance, and fearless musical exploration, and I look forward to sharing these compositions with audiences around the world, including, in a future concert in Armenia.
“My approach is about recognizing the nature, the folk spirit, my struggles and joys, the tradition and its structures and identity and its good and bad sides —but then, through my own life experience , struggles, discoveries , pain and knowledge and individuation, finding my own voice and way, regardless of that background. It’s not about continuing or preserving something in a direct sense, but about becoming, unfolding .
Each artist, in a way, plays their Self through their art—whatever the form may be. The artist is both the Art-source and the instrument, the artwork itself as well. So authenticity has to come first on an individual Soul level.
So it’s not a conflict between past and future, but a continuity of the self , becoming.” By Lucy Khanyan.
